Basically the mechanics of this mode are like a capture hold with no bases. Every player can hold 0-3 tokens, and you start the round with 1 token. If you are killed, you drop all your tokens, and any other player can pick it up. There can be 2-4 teams. If a team holds all the tokens for 30 seconds, they win the round, otherwise the team that holds the most tokens at the end of the round wins.
You can see dropped tokens on the minimap, and they will appear as money bags in the main view. The minimap doesn't tell you if a player is holding tokens, but they will appear in the main view with the count above their heads. Also the HUD will display the hold counts in the lower right corner if you want to see which team to go after.
Strategies: try to stay in the same area as your team, so if a teammate gets dropped, other teammates can pickup the tokens. Go defensive instead of offensive, if you hold more than one token. Avoid concentrating fire on opponents that hold no tokens, other than to defend yourself. You want to kill the ones that hold tokens, the more they hold, the better.
Here's some video of Bram playing two rounds of Collection Time:

I had a go at this on Tuesday night and quite enjoyed it thought I was a little unclear at the time about how the scoring system worked. I was just playing it like a deathmatch though I did well in terms of kills and deaths. One tip to add to those mentioned above is to try and make a beeline for the special carbine pickup at the start of the round as killing will be a lot easier with that than the assault rifle. If a team mate has the same idea and reaches the pickup ahead of you then just camp close to where it was and the special carbine pickup should respawn in about 30-45 seconds.

Well providing my controller behaves itself (fingers crossed) I will be having a go at collection time tonight after work as now I'm hearing about these car discount offers to players I want to see if I get one myself on any of my acccounts.
I think I will like this one, it sounds like a good mix of a deathmatch and a points based system but shall report in later.

Just to correct an error, it appears you can hold more than 3 tokens.
