Deadline Adversary Mode Deadline pits up to four players against another, each mounted on a different colored Shotaro, which emits a temporary light trail as you ride through the arena. Any competitor unfortunate enough to come in contact with said trail meets an instant explosion. Make calculated movements to force opponents to cross your trail’s path and take advantage of strategic power-ups for a competitive edge; use Boost to speed ahead and cut off your opponents, slow down time with Zoned for precision movement, or leap your opponent’s light trail with Hop. I've played one match so far.
Here's the game mechanics as of my present understanding.
Exactly 4 players are required to play. There is a 10 second countdown once it fills, I suggest hosts use this. I have a new-found hatred for the join-and-quit assholes.
You ride a Shotaro that emits an energy trail. I'm not sure if it is time-based (going faster produces a longer trail) or distance based. If you run into a trail, including your own, you die. Kill credit goes to the owner of the trail you run into. Falling off the platform or running into your own trail is a suicide.
You nominally have 6 lives, settable by the host, and you are knocked out of the round when you use them all.
If the timer expires, it is sudden death, and you must get to a shrinking area to stay in the round like caged in.
There are three pickups, speed boosts, bunny hops, and an hourglass which I don't know what it does. Speed boost is self explanitory, bunny hop allows you to jump over trails with L3.

Now this sounds exactly like how I would picture the Tron bike chase in the movies, I think I am going to like this one, roll on the end of the working day at 5pm (1 hour 22 mins from now) when I get home and get to play this one.

I'm gonna have to watch Tron Legacy again to see how close it is. It definately doesn't have have the right-angle turns of the original Tron, since this bike has a really wide turning radius. I have a massive crush on Olivia Wilde, just thought I'd put that out there.

Well I have just played my first match, an excellent game mode however it seems to have a few flaws in the design.
The maps, no complaints, very open and excellently laid out meaning you can build up a good trail and sweet satisfaction when a player hits your line.
It would seem that if you have just respawned after hitting someone's trail it is possible for the players who are already at speed to leave a trail right in the line of your spawn point meaning that as soon as the invincibility ends you are likely to loose a life.
There was also a player who had learnt the timings of the respawns on the map so was able to perfect his route to avoid the other players and jump their lines with the pickup accordingly.
However I won my second match and I absolutely love this adversary mode, this is a real game of strategy and luck and I love the bike and it's handling.

Well I've just spent the past five hours playing nothing but the new Adversary mode Deadline and I can honestly say that is the first Adversary mode I have really enjoyed playing on release day (I've ignored all the others).
Hopefully it proves a success as lots of players playing it today for the bike unlock but I found it greatly enjoyable and a nice bit of fun all round not many wins but I guess that will come with practice.

A good win for you there. it does seem the best strategy of letting others be taken out first then focus on the remaining player.
There are only two things I dislike about this mode which not everyone will experience but I had one match against one other player and because his bike was at speed whenever I came back on the map he was able to simply zip across my route and eliminate me quickly.
I have a video to upload for that issue and the only other minor thing for me is it seems very harsh that when you even lightly touch a wall or another player it costs you a life, I understand the reasons for it being an unstable bike and all but I lost so many lives through learning errors with this last night.

I haven't noticed the wall problem yet, I was able to touch/scrap the wall withoutan issue - it may be about coming to stop at the wall.

There is a setting for deathmatch mode, that the host can set which is an interesting scoring method. Instead of the winner being the last one to run out of lives (or sudden death if at a tie and out of time), it is scored like a deathmatch, where the winner kills the most players, which definately causes a change to strategy, since you must ride differently to eliminate other players on purpose, rather than just being the best survivor.
I also noticed that a few of the maps are min 2 player, and/or I think deathmatch mode reduces the minimum player requirement to 2.

I only noticed one map having a requirement of 4 players (Deadline 1 I think), the others all seemed to be able to be played with 2-4 players That does sound an interesting challenge, must have a look at the hosting options myself tonight.

Well I joined a couple of deathmatch Deadlines last night and definetly puts a different ride style on the mode as you say darkgreenmeme.
Got quite a few kills myself but never won any of those rounds but defintetly a good challenge. I have the objective Kill 10 Players tonight so am away to see if this counts by killing the other players in Deadline, I imgagine it should and if so then I have finally found a way to do that objective with minimal of pain or lag issues.

Yes this is a good map and also one of my favourites. I am in the process of uploading some videos of this game mode myself as we speak.
