So: Dirty Racing.
It can be infuriating, but totally allowed by the game in contact races.
Not a good thing to do when racing with your friends. But sometimes you have to fight back.

Allowed by the game. That's it. There are so many exploits allowed by the game, which is the major flaw this game has. For racing, it should penalize you when you crash into a car, like in real life or any real racing game. In fact it doesn't. Crash into someone in a certain angle = win. Racing communities/crews have figured this out when the game came out, that's why they use their rules (which I accord to if there aren't dirty randoms involved). Basically it's avoid crashing. If you take someone out, stop, let him go in front. The last real racing game I played was a Formula One game in the mid 90s on PC. Even there, with crappy handling and crappy AI, when you crashed it always gave you the disadvantage.
Allowed by the game just means it's in the game to make kids happy. Like jets, rockets, all that kind of stuff. Pretty much every gamemode is imbalanced by design. Be a dirty prick = "win" on GTA. It barely happens that I see randoms race clean. If it happens, I really appreciate it.

I agree with you, that this game doesn't penalize drivers for being reckless. In no way should a player be allowed to drive away from a head-on collision at high speed, but it's there, and for the same reason auto/assisted aim is the most popular shooting mode, because if it took a lot of skill and patience to actually not make a fool of yourself, then a lot of people wouldn't play the game.
Now that being said, the game mechanics that favor reckless drivers in contact races are going to always bring players that race dirty, as this is a valid technique for winning a contact race. When you race with randoms, you are not bound by any gentlemen's agreement to race clean, so dirty racing techniques should be expected. It may be infuriating to have them used against you, but the best thing to do is learn these techniques and use them against the dirty racer. I try not to get mad about it, instead, I like to work on counter-techniques. A lot of dirty racers just aren't that skilled, and it is usually easy to counteract their dirty moves. Personally, I wouldn't feel good about winning a race using dirty techniques from the start, but it is very self-satisfying to use them against a dirty racer. There's always non-contact races if you want to avoid the issue with random players, but otherwise the only way to clean race is by gentlemen's agreement.
By the way, dirty racers are one of the reasons I prefer traffic races. If the racer is concentrating on trying to take you out rather than avoiding traffic on the road, then they usually take themselves out. There's nothing more self satisfying than seeing that asshole try to take you off your bike in a motorcycle traffic race, and instead eat the back of a truck and go flying. My patented keep the car between my bike and the asshole technique.
Now dirty racing in a contact air race, that is just being an idiotic troll.

Both Forza & NFS don't penalize for dirty racing .... Neither did Midnight club,so let's not hang RockStar for this one.
Anyway, Dirty Racing is one of the reasons I don't race in GTA. Stunt Races made things worse, as plenty people will try to push you off the road ... Especially when a $100k is involved.
Kids these days have no ethics & can't appreciate a clean race.

I'm a realist, I think you just have to adjust your techniques to compensate. Usually dirty races can't drive very well in the first place, so if you clear the pack at the beginning, don't make mistakes, you should stay out ahead. Clean racing is really only done if you've got friends racing together, but the way I see it, it's like free-aimers demanding that nobody should come up and melee kill them, or run-n-dummers that demand that nobody shoot from cover. Dirty racing really is a strategy that works in a two-person race, it's just trolling when there are more than that, because the racers that aren't involved are the ones that get ahead.

Yessir, trust no one, always be ready, watch your six & give em a taste of their own medicine. (if s\he push you, push back) I agree, Its the best way to avoid dirty racers ... Try to clear the pack early on.
