I noticed this section of the forum was empty so thought I'd get the ball rolling with a thread about deathmatches that seem to have gone missing in action. So feel free to comment on those that I mention if you remember them or highlight your own if you can think of any that no longer seem to be among us.
I can remember two specifically that I used to really like that I'd like to mention. This is going back a couple of years now but I recall one specific map that I used to really enjoy that was quite prominent around early 2014. I don't know the name of it but it was set in that log cabin area with the big lumberjack statue up in the north area of the map. Basically the place where your tank or insurgent pickup will spawn if you call for it at the start of the Time to get away mission. I'm not sure if it was a Rockstar map or a user created one but if a custom one it must have been Rockstar verified as it definitely used to show up on the voting screen. That used to be one of my very favourite deathmatches but it seems to have long since disappeared without trace. I guess I could try and recreate it myself but I'm not really one for using the creator tool so I've never tried. I'm not actually sure if the deathmatch creator had been introduced back then as I was only a casual player at the time so if not then I guess it must have been an official Rockstar map.
Another one that I used to like was the Rockstar normal rules deathmatch Morgue. I definitely still had access to this one through the menus early last summer when I was still on PS3 but since moving to the PS4 it no longer appears on my deathmatch list. So I'm thinking it has perhaps been removed from the game for people on current gen?
There was another map that I remember that was quite common around the time of the first one I mentioned that was set in that alien hippy area of the map with all the colours on the ground and the "Save Us" message. I didn't like that one very much as there wasn't very much cover (it probably favoured more of a RnG approach) but just thought I'd throw that one out there as well.

I don't remember that one, but I created a deathmatch in Beam Me Up park. It's called "Brown Acid", and is limited to SNS pistols and Sawed Off shotguns, so you don't get slaughtered when coming out of cover. I used a lot of Surfer vans and RVs in the parking lot. It would be cool if someone could post video from that removed deathmatch, or any of the the removed deathmatches.

I couldn't find any videos for the deathmatches in either the lumberjack area or beam me up park but I found this one for the Rockstar map Morgue. This is one of the maps I was talking about earlier that no longer seems to be available on PS4.

Deathmatches are the perfect way to do the Kill 20 Players daily objective. You don't lose ammo, pay hospital bills, fill up the psycho meter, get bad sport points & You actually get paid for it!

Captures are fun. There's a user-created one that takes place in front of the Del Perro Police Station.
It starts as a Mexican stand off between you & the other player. With the bags (All of them) between you too & about 10 Cops with nightsticks. They chases the killer & beat him up if they catch him.
It was a lot of fun & brought good memories of State Of Emergency.
I regret not bookmarking it.

I did some research on that and I found a R* statement which basically said they removed maps since the space is limited and they wanted to use it for new content. Muhahahahahaa. Well, it's not limited at all, the real reason obviously was that some of the DMs were horribly made and/or highly exploitable. Nowadays this is not a reason to remove something (looking at you Running Back/Rhino Hunt).
Regarding R* verified. They used to remove old batches and replace them with new ones. We're stuck with that one batch we have now for over a year. This is completely unfair towards the creator community. There is no reason for being so lazy. Some of the verfied stuff now in the game is just very, very bad made, and they simply don't care to put quality content into the game. I guess they do it on purpose. They want to be in control and beside from the Lowrider missions all we had since March 15 was adversary modes. Those could barely compete with a decent selection of custom jobs, and they would never be able to compete if R* were giving us dev creator options. A kind of random selection of themed jobs for a newswire post every now and then, ok, showing real respect to the few decent and gifted creators by putting their jobs into the game, crossplattform, no. The R* verfied content we have now makes you feel R* created jobs are actually good. Most of them aren't.

It looks like Rockstar removed Morgue on purpose then and perhaps the others I mentioned were user created verified matches that got replaced by a new batch of verified jobs. I agree that the verified deathmatches that we have at the moment such as Forest Mayhem and Triphistic (or something like that) aren't very good.

Well, most deathmatches, races and LTS are average. Some are really bad, but most are average. Most of the creators were just casual players, not really into creating. nittydon, dimibarcelona, and UniqueAsh are the few exceptions I know of. Even broughy and shaggy have way better racing than creator skills. A lot of people think user created content is shit bc of R* verified and 99999999$ DM. The verified captures are just...some of their own creators don't like them. They have absolutely nothing to do with balanced and well-made captures. The one where you have to pick up a package from Mt. Chiliad... Vesras on the highway.. traffic on. Whoever is responsible for this, just never do it again. Oh, btw, I think I found the one you were looking for pondnewt: rsg.ms/337bb11

That looks like it could possibly be the one I was talking about. I've added it to my game so I'll try and host it later to see if it is indeed the one I remember. Thanks for your help.

A little late to the party but I think I still have the deathmatch you mention bookmarked? Was that the one that took place at the log cabins beside the cable car at Paleto Bay?
I can't remember the name either but I know the job still exists, will look for you online tonight and send you an invite and can let me know if the right job.

So I was browsing through the entire list of Rockstar verified jobs on social club recently and I came across quite a few of the DM's that I used to play a lot back in 2014. The one that I was referring to in my original post at the alien hippy park is called Area 53. Didn't bother bookmarking that one though as it requires 6 players to start and as I mentioned before I was never really a fan of it anyway. I found several others though that I have mostly fond memories of including Quarantine, Underground Shootout, Pier Pressure II, Transformer Station, Classy Construction and Terry's Hangout. I'm guessing that last one was supposed to be Trevor's Hangout but the creator made a mistake. Funny that Rockstar chose to verify it with such a glaring error in the name. Last but not least is one that I really used to like called Paintball! Tried this one again the other night for the first time in maybe a couple of years and it was as good as ever. Great locked on carbine rifles. Link below. socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/jobs/job/gC4F4zh6y0CA1wVBIKQnZg
