"Teams of paratroopers jump from Cargobobs hovering high above, then race to the ground to seize and maintain control of a small, exposed patch of terra firma. No man is an island here - you and your squad mates will need to attack and defend as a unit."

Some tips from R* on this adversary mode ( newswire article): Adrenaline junkies will enjoy one of our faster-paced Adversary Modes, Drop Zone. Barrel through the air at top speed with your team towards the demarcated area and lock it down for as long as you can. While holding down the fort, keep on the move as a strategically placed Sniper bullet to the head could be just around the corner. Although your bar increases quicker if you have more team members inside the smoke, there are plenty of tactical opportunities to be had by staying just out of sight with a long-range weapon so you can better provide cover fire and draw away the enemy from your team. To the point above, this also enables you to cover for fallen comrades and make a dash for the smoke, to keep the bar filling whilst waiting for their return to the battlefield. You'll be taking a lot of hits when you're out in the open, so make strategic runs to pick up health and armor in between attacks. Players within the zone can also stave off incoming enemies by shooting their Parachutes and thus turning them around or pushing them away from their intended target. For those unlucky enough to have their chute gunned down, quickly detach and open your reserve to save you time trying to run back to the area.

Played this one a lot, because i consider it as the best AM by far. You need a decent skilled team, an even number of players and even teams. The general R* tips are pretty much the basics. I only play it with two teams, everything else is too hectic in my opinion. Each map is different and requires different strategies.
I'll start with the first map and add tips for the others soon. Here is how I usually play it.
I aim for the first special carbine pickup. This way, you'll lose some time and might not be first at the zone, but this does not matter. It gives you an advantage other players who straight head to the zone. A explosive pickup can be handy, but it's not necessary. The healthpack right next to the zone is your friend, pick it up whenever you need and can. If you have to respawn, aim for the eagle. You can stand on it and you are in the zone. Might be even better in free-aim, but people in assisted-aim also struggle to kill you there. You got to have some basic parachuting skills to land on it, but it's not hard. The wings give you some extra protection. Don't think of sniping, it's pointless in this map. One sniper per team can help on the Mirror Park, Elysian Islands and the theatre maps, but on this and the Richman map all players should stay as close to the zone as possible.
