The Pisces is the one to buy. It comes with a tent on the upperdeck, which is pretty handy for Piracy Prevention. It also has a unique version of the Swift Deluxe (in yacht colors, but with the Deluxe features). The Swift's handling is much better than the Supervoltolio. I think the Aquarius has one or two Seasharks more than the Pisces, but you'll never ever use those. I'm too greedy to downgrade, but would never buy the Aquarius again.

Bertha finally pulls the trigger and buys her yacht, the first of any of my characters. Bare bones Orion, and she has $2K left to her name after moving it.

I don't have a yacht yet. I could easily afford it many times over but I just don't think I would have any use for it so I'd probably go on it once and then maybe never use it again. With that said though I am a little tempted with the discount this week.

For gameplay, the yacht is only good for Piracy Prevention which pays $30K for 10 minutes (win it 200 times to pay for a bare bones Orion)
If you like to survive your bounties, hanging out on the deck of your yacht is effective, turn on air defenses when the jets approach.

I'm wondering about the utility of calling the Captain and requesting a personal vehicle on on the shoreline for $750. It seems more obvious just to take a boat to shore and call the mechanic. Are there some locations that the Captain can deliver it where the mechanic won't?

Just so you know, Merryweather will deliver an Ammo Drop to your yacht.

I regret not purchasing the Pisces when it was on sale 3 weeks ago ... I can afford one outright, but it would leave me seriously exposed for the Independence Day sale. (I'll be away until at least July 1st)

I purchased an Orion during the sale & upgraded it to a Pisces immediately. Got me a Pisces for 4.275

Well I've been a yacht owner since the sale week, it's been just over 2 months now but I like having the yachts for my characters to spawn in on as it's far safer than spawning on the street or coming out of the apartment to a war zone and I find life on the ocean is far more rewarding for me and I've actually spent some time just leaving my character on the yacht and listening to the water sounds.
If it were not for the requirment to launch heists from the apartment I'd have probably traded them all in.

I haven't verified, but does air defenses on and yacht defense exclusion Associates (friends+crew+bodyguards/ceo associates) seem to work?

This is true however I am of the aproach that if I had to I could live with one personal vehicle (my trusty Ruiner). As for your question I can confirm it works, I had a rival organisation (friend) in my public lobby yesterday and he flew straight over my yacht once in his Buzzard and was not shot down so the setting does appear to function correctly.

If it were not for the requirment to launch heists from the apartment I'd have probably traded them all in. Too bad the Executive Offices don't have them. The offices are filled with enough incriminating evidences... Err samples to have our characters die in prison, a Planning Room would be icing on the cake for feds:P
